Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults, Children & Infants in Clinical Practice (RQF)

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic life support (BLS) and using a defibrillator (AED) on adults, children and infants in clinical practice environments.

 

 

Intended Audience:

This qualification is intended for everyone who works in a clinical practice environment including administration and support staff. The Learner does not need to be a clinician. Examples of clinical practice environments include: addiction services, aesthetics clinics, community health centres, dental care, mental health services, nursing and care homes, pharmacies, physiotherapy, podiatry, primary care/GP services, sexual health and sports medicine.

This qualification is designed to assist clinical practices in meeting the requirements of the Resuscitation Council UK Quality Standards in relation to basic life support and paediatric basic life support training.

Note: Whilst achievement of this qualification confirms Learners have met the course requirements, this does not imply a ‘license to practice’. The scope of practice for each Learner will be determined by the organisation responsible for the governance of their clinical practice environment.

The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

  • The Resuscitation Council (UK)

  • A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care

This qualification enables Learners who operate in clinical practice environments to attain the practical competencies needed to safely use an AED and perform BLS interventions on adults, children and infants. Topics include: Incident and casualty assessment, Adult CPR and AED, Child CPR and AED, Infant CPR and AED, unconscious casualty and choking casualty.

Successful learners will receive a personalised Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults, Children and Infants in Clinical Practice (RQF) e-Certificate immediately after their results have been submitted
